Every Saturday in build season, we have a meeting from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and for each Saturday one family donates lunch. We at Team Paragon 571 would like to thank the Petro, Larsen, McCaffrey, Meacham, Carroll, Hughes, and Girard families for providing our Saturday meetings with food throughout build season. Team Paragon would also like to thank Nat Hayden’s Real Pit Barbecue for providing our meal on January 7th Kick-off Day, as well as Peppridge Farms’s for donating bread through the season.

Week Three Update from Analiese

Time for an update for the third week! News in the third week… the teeter-totters are complete! Michelle and I got a chance to test them out. After two weeks we finally figured out the best design to pick the balls up off the ground. In other news, we finished painting the chassis in the team orange and blue, and my new shoes got blue paint on them! Other then that, so for being on the team has been really fun and I think a lot of people are looking forward to our trip to St. Louis. Personally, I’m really looking forward to the trip because this is my first trip with the team. Thats all the update I have for now. See you next time!

Week 3 was very productive for Team Paragon. Now that the planning and strategizing is done, we are able to
buckle down and build our bot! Our prototype bot is coming along nicely, and our competition bot is in the works.

Team Paragon has been working hard over the past week since the game was released. All of our subgroups are in full gear and working hard toward designing and building our competition robot. We have made a lot of headway in our six subgroups this week.

2012 Season Kickoff

The 2012 build season began this morning with an exciting kickoff presentation. This year’s challenge is Rebound Rumble, a type of basketball game. The twist is a four basket setup, with each basket level giving a different score. Robots are given two minutes to score as many points as possible with the baskets, with an additional fifteen seconds for autonomous mode. Robots also score additional points by balancing on two bridges at the end of the match, more points for each robot. Click here to view a Youtube video from FIRST explaining the game. One of the newer students, Michelle Munasinghe, said that the game looks fun and challenging. Michelle said she was looking forward to building the robot and going to the competitions.

Turkeys and Twenties

Yum Yum Yum! Fifteen turkeys and forty-one twenties! Thanks the Windsor community, Foodshare has fifteen more turkeys to give to the needy, as well as $820 dollars to help them with their mission to feed the hungry. A big congratulations goes to the students and mentors who stood out on the Windsor town green in the cold. We also did a bottle and can drive. We raised over $500 for the bottle and can drive. We were at the town green of about six hours.
